Mixing Vintage Lampshades with Modern Lamps

Isn't it amazing what adding a vintage lamp shade to a new lamp can do?  I purchased this incredible 2-tiered lamp shade at a garage sale four of five years ago for twenty-five cents.  I added it to a lamp that I got at the closeout sale when our local Walmart moved to a new building shortly after getting the shade.  I originally put the shade on the lamp just to have something on it until I could buy a new shade.  Now, I can't imagine this lamp without the vintage shade.  The shade is just the right size, in my opinion.

  1. That is exactly the kind of lampshade I'm looking for for my white ceramic lamps. I wonder if you can get "new" vintage-style lampshades on the internet--I NEVER see them at garage sales. The shade looks super with the lamp!

  2. Christine - you might check Pam's blog to see what she has on reproduction lampshades. I think that there has been discussion on there before about places that make them new (but they are pretty pricey). I'll try to do some searching as well.

  3. Christine - I've dug up some neat sites tonight for this type of lamp shade. I'll try to do a post on it for Thursday, hopefully.

  4. Thank you so much! It's getting a little weird but I keep finding stuff after you post about it! Case in point: you blogged about your RCA console, I found one. You blogged about the Marcrest Swiss china, I found 2 gorgeous mixing bowls in that pattern. You blogged about your vintage lampshade and yesterday I found THE most awesome vintage ceramic black deer base with shade! I think I'm going to give you a list of things to blog about that I will subsequently need . . . BTW, the shade is plastic and is cracked but I think I can fix it and just put the repaired side to the wall.
