Movie Friday: Sarah, Plain and Tall

One of my favorite stories to do with my students is the story of Sarah, Plain and Tall by Patricia MacLachlan.  The books in the trilogy are simple reads, great for elementary students, and tell a wonderful story.  It's no wonder Hallmark made a series of their Hallmark Hall of Fame movies out of the book trilogy.

I couldn't find just a clip of Sarah, Plain and Tall on YouTube, so I'm posting a commercial that Hallmark made for a day that they showed all three movies.

Starring Glen Close and Christopher Walken, the movie follows the story of Sarah Wheaton, who answers and advertisement for a mail-order-bride.  Sarah travels from Maine to the Kansas prairie in hopes of completing the family that was broken after their mother / wife passed away several years before.
