1959 RCA Hide-Away TV

Wow!  Today is post number 100!  What a milestone.  To celebrate, I want to share this video of an RCA Hide-Away TV from 1959.  I think this would look great sitting in the living room of the shack!

Has anybody ever come across one of these?  I had never dreamed something like this existed until I found the video on YouTube.  Have a terrific Tuesday!

  1. Congratulations, Michael. You are doing a great job with the blog, it's one of my very favorites because you are so good at uncovering new things. Like the RCA hideaway TV!

  2. I love the TV and that lady just looks SO proud of herself for getting it out so gracefully. Pam's right--you do find the most interesting things!

  3. That is fantastic. I see lots of items like this all around....especially in Los Angeles. I've never seen this one exactly in the street, but I saw a similar item in blond wood sitting in the street in New York with a sign on it that said "Take me, I work!" That was several years ago, and it was 2 in the morning and I lived in a walk-up apartment at the time. I tried to budge it myself, but it was so dang heavy I had to leave it there. Happily, it was gone when I went to inspect the next day. I took that to mean that someone else nabbed it! Stan

  4. I bet that TV is a lot heavier than she makes it seem!

What a wonderful find! I'd love to see one of these in person!
