My Heywood Wakefield...

...finally has been set up in it's new home, and I think that it looks great!  It's in my old bedroom at my parent's house.  Mom was looking for a bedroom set for the room as they converted it from "my room" several months ago into the "guest room".  Kind of makes me feel like my presence has been erased from the house!

Anyway, talked Mom into this great color of turquoise for the walls (which is the same color that I used in my bathroom and still haven't warmed up to - the bathroom may be in for a repaint).  I really like the color in the bedroom though.  And, with the light colored Heywood Wakefield bedroom set that I bought for a steal last fall ($170!), I think it has a great 1950s vibe beginning.  Mom is still in the process of picking out a bedspread and curtains for the room, but I wanted to share it anyway!

  2. That is indeed the steal of the century! I offered 10 times that for a badly refinished Hey-Wake dining table, 6 banged up chairs and buffet and they're "thinking" about it and will probably wind up not accepting it. I know that whatever guest gets to sleep in that room will be happy!

  3. That wall color goes great with the furniture. I think the bedspread and drapes needs to have a touch of coral in them. How nice of you to share your furniture with your mom. Guess you'll have to be a guest in your old room in order to make your presence felt again. Just leave a pile of clothes on the floor, and it will be just like the old days!

  4. Wow! I get so ticked off at how expensive California is compared to the rest of the US. I have been wanting a bedroom set like that for a while, but cant find one in CA for under $1,500! End tables alone are $250. Gee Wiz. Lucky girl! Keep up the great blogging!

  5. Very nice...and fantastic deal for the bedroom suite. I do love the turquoise walls. It's a fantastic contrast to the light wood of the furniture.

  7. The turquoise really shows off the color of the furniture! You got a great deal!

Just curious but could you put an approximative age on the carpet? I've been wondering for a lot time (not about your parent's rug but that pattern). Evrytime I see some I wonder. I grew up in a carpetless house...

  9. Vonlipi - the carpet is original to when my parents built the house - 25 years old. The style of carpet was very popular at that time, and is still available today. The style/pattern is referred to as "sculptured carpet".

Leah - I think that Mom is looking at a white chenille bedspread, but I'm not sure about curtains.
